Blurring the line between private and public space. How can we re-imagine what the corridor means and how we utilize space throughout the day. According to the American Time Use survey the average employed person who worked at their workplace spends 7.6 hours of their day at work. Which is nearly equivalent to the time spent on personal activities in and outside the home, making me question the role of private space in an inhabitant's daily life. Can we provide a space that is as dynamic as our daily lives that directly reacts to the how and when spaces are utilized. This can create social interaction when a user travels from the front door of the building to the front door of their house which is unusual in typical multi-family design of the present. How can we celebrate the corridor so it is not only the vehicle of travel but also the location of pause and collaboration.
