Light Fixture: Optical Illusion

Exploring how light can affect a space and how we as architects can design to create an emotion. In our work, we used graph mappers to create a surface and make interesting shapes to re imagine the typical rectangle. From these surfaces we interpolated the in between surfaces and were able to get a very interesting change however we were not satisfied yet. Using two helix-like shapes, we gave variable thickness to each surface based on the distance between each point on the surface and those two helix shapes we added.

We are quite happy with the results as it does what we wanted, it gives off a feeling of twisting even though it is a uniform shape even though it is a uniform rectangular prism. In dark lighting we were even able to give an effect of the bar light even looking curvilinear which is something we strive for since the beginning. We are quite happy with what we learned and what we were able to accomplish.
