Consumed: A Hydroponics Table
The societal connotation of consumption rings in the ears of most around the world, with an overwhelming guilt that we are all responsible for. The consumption of energy, resources, time; there is a desire to dissociate ourselves with the idea of consumption, but consumption is a vital aspect to human life, consumption of food, ideas, knowledge; we must work to gather the good and manage the bad to promote a more conscience and inclusive future.
The Consumed table is a modern solution to a continuous problem, with the overconsumption of goods and resources, the farming industry is overworking the soil, resulting in the use of fertilizers and pesticides that is harmful to the atmosphere, waterways and killing the nutrient soil that takes decades to recover. I look to modern farming techniques that are accessible to individuals no matter their location while providing a moment to enjoy the beauty of consumption with others.
